“Nu-disco” is the trendiest

For those who haven’t been aware of VEGA’s rise to the charts I’ll give you some background. VEGA was part of Ghosthustler (the lead vocals) but how now gone solo with a backup band to help him. After a mediocre following with Ghosthustler, VEGA has gotten huge on some of this biggest blogs[Bigstereo; Discodust] the best part is he’s from Dallas!  Well, his poppy synth lines have captured audiences retiring from those ol’ bngrs (read: bangers) who still want to move their feet and shake their hips. I was lucky to catch VEGA’s first stop before he started his U.S. tour to promote his upcoming EP, Well Known Pleasures. After remembering Alan muttering about another show in Dallas, I found out that he’ll be returning on June 3th for a followup in his hometown! Here’s a taste of his new summer single entitled No Reasons; beware it might be hard to wipe a smile off your face while you glide to the beats.

Goldfish; no pets here just jazz

An apparent love for all things electronic coupled with saxophones, clarinets and a host of other instruments made me instantly fall for Goldfish.  Straight outta Cape Town,  Africa, this jazz duo has been cooking tunes since 2006 but recently were featured in a commercial for the Kia Soul

Their style is definitely one that caught my attention as a loungy-type but I didn’t feel like I was in a sleazy club where there was way too much sweating going on. I ended up searching more videos on these guys and found this beaute:

I hope these two videos give you some idea of what these two Africans are upto down in the Cape.

Overload: FLASHMEN!

A little late but at least it’s finally come. For those who don’t know, Flashmen is a duo hailing from NYC (Bradley D) and Chicago (D-Evans). Their style defined by myspace is pop, disco house, new wave and that couldn’t be more true.  The wonderfully synth laden songs go beautifully with D-Evan’s splendid vocals as well as featured tracks with Bradley D singing. There have been numerous remixes of their songs popping up already and a greatly anticipated Spring Romance mixtape was just released! Little Wildkat, assumed to be the single from their Spy Hunter EP, was recently remixed by Jemex and Mr. Vega. Be sure you check out their mistape and myspace songs because you’ll be begging for more. I certainly was!

Old city, new job, similar lifestyle?

It’s been a bit since we’ve posted on but for me it’s finally come that time for a change in my life. *Cheers* I’ve been hired onto a street marketing team with Cornerstone promotions. The best part is it’s a Reebok remix campaign. Here’s the Kidz in the Hall advert for Footlocker and Fools Gold just has a recent post about Kid Sister’s remix track called I’ll House You remixed by Treasure Fingers.  Anyways, I’vve been busy filling out paper work and figuring out what my requirements are as a street team member. I can’t contain my excitement because my job entails going to shows/events, postering, flyering and just spreading the word about the Reebok Classics. 

Dallas 2009 here I come.
