“all of this controversy circles me and it seems like the media immediately points a finger at me…” Ooops.. wrong rapper. To reiterate from my previous post about Kate Perry: controversy, regardless of it’s nature can draw attention and that’s exactly what you want if you yearn to be famous. Case in point, Kayne is the king of controversy from his Bush antics, to the infamous incident at the European music awards concerning Best Video Kayne and Justice vs Simian, and of course his constant pompous attitude that he’s God’s gift to man.
So here’s the rundown from my point of view: He’s a complete jackass personality wise, his arrogance pisses me off (it should be Daft Punk FEATURING Kayne West in that collab not vice versa *ugh*) but I can’t deny I love his musical talent. I remember listening to All Falls Down among many other fresh tunes from College Dropout. Fast forward to the present and his most recent video Heartless still is of the same caliber if not better.
Random thoughts from this vid: 1) When did he start smoking? Did I miss something? 2) Props or is it just ridic that there are huge Jetsons paintings 3) I love that I feel like I’m on an acid trip thru space… 4) I <3 vocoders, but are they overdone?
Plain and simple: You love him and you hate him so much, right?

Two weeks after the release of the 6th Kitsune, I finally succumbed to listening to it. The past compilations usually have a few redeeming tracks to bring it a mediocre listening session but this recent released has caught my attention rather quickly with La Roux, Superheroes, along with Ted & Francis. This mix makes me want to get up and dance instead of merely playing it through my headphones while I surf the web. A quick rundown of the album is available here.
My fave thus far:
Ted & Francis – I Wish I Was a Polar Bear (Arctic Urgency edit)
Ahh, the greatness that surrounds his earnest echoing voice in your ears as he yearns to be a polar bear. Even though it’s a typical 80’s sounding synth, I dearly love the riff and melody that compliment the vocals. P.S. you can’t go wrong with an organ too, right?

Who’s a sucker for pop? *raises hand*. Let’s all just accept that through our clouds of pretension when we’re in our rooms at home listening to the radio (wait. ray deee oh? what’s the eff is that) we move just a bit to the catchy tunes of popdom. Remember that Aussie turned Brit we blogged about? Good ol’ Sammy Sparro has a cover by the controversial popstar Katy Perry.
Controversial is a lame term but that’s what the public has smeared her with due to the summer classic “I kissed a Girl” about a same sex encounter and a previous LP (from last year) entitled Ur So Gay. Isn’t that the way to reach the mass media though? Controversy enabled her to launch herself into pop stardom and I couldn’t be much happier =)
I’m a sucker for wispy female vocals esp from hawties
Do you think she’s a talented singer or is she trying to hard in her cover of Sammy?

Is that Ocelot with her?!

I came across The Enright House a few weeks ago while listening to the Teenage Drama mixtape that Mayowa posted. Born in Hamburg (also having lived in Chicago and presently New Zealand), Mark Roberts created The Enright House in 2001. According to TEH’s website, the music is “best suited for rainy autumn-winter days, or for slitting one’s wrists, or for falling in and out of love and philosophizing about life, or simply for rolling around in your feelings like an Irish Wolfdog in the leaves of a forest park.” After listening to ”Darkwave = MC Squared”, it’s hard to argue with that description. With hints of electronica and ambient along with a heaping dose of incredible songwriting, The Enright House creates a unique and powerful sound.
Here are a few tracks that I think are worth your time to listen to…
The Enright House- Darkwave = MC Squared
The Enright House- We Might As Well Have Stayed Young
Mark plans on touring the US in the coming months, so if you live in the midwest, be sure to keep your eyes open for The Enright House in the middle of next year!
If you liked what you heard, you can find free new tracks from The Enright House here, and also a free 7″ which Mark splits with Break Mission Kills here!
