St Juice Round 1, some shitty tracks I made over the last year or so…
And by shitty, I mean EPIC, of course!
At least when I’m referring to the St Juice Parts, there are a few donations from MeMinor, Mayowa and SynWav, who are completely different entities from the ‘Juice and not nearly as awesome.
Anyway, 4 Tracks, 4 tracks are all I need…
Spazzy 808 Claps will introduce you to Sexual Chocolate, the kind that melts in your mouth, not in your hands ;) .
Arpeggiate, instigate and copulate on the dancefloor with Rapostle Hustle.
You can’t get the sax from Orni4 out of your head? Well, maybe the talking drums, congas and huge analog synth in the chorus will rattle something loose!!!
You’ll wanna turn Trials way up, you’ve never heard one boy, one guitar and robot backing band rock so hard.
Get Juiced. (~7 Minutes/ 7mb)
Tracklist:
Sexual Chocolate (Myspace page anthem) – Syn Wav
Rapostle Hustle (rough)– St Juice of DOB infamy
Orni4 – St Juice
Trials (rough instrumental) – Mayowa
p.s. The horns from Orni4 are not stolen from ‘Heartbeat’ by the Pyschedelic Furs, really. Tout’s Honor!

Oh my 3rd post today! Can you guys handle it???
I feel spoiled for seeing so many great shows lately. Thursday, I drove down to Bloomington to see Deerhoof supported by Experimental Dental School and AU. Sunday, I got to see & hear TV on the Radio magic.
Deerhoof:
SRSLY who doesn’t like little Japanese girls? tee hee (^___^) srsly tho. Deerhoof is one of the most energetic bands I have seen. You can tell the band has so much fun on stage and the energy is passed on to the crowd. Singer/Bassist Satomi Matsuzaki is probably not even 5 ft, but she rocks the stage hard. The band produces a supah happy fun fantastic kawaii experimental-pop sound which becomes even more kawaii when Satomi’s vocals come in. Satomi incorporates cute dance moves while singing Japanese/English and you just want to jump up and down for their whole set. Okay, so I’m a little Japanese girl… who wants to start a band?

TV on the Radio:
Wow. TVOTR really brings it. This band definitely ranks in the top 3 of all the bands I’ve seen this year. I’m sure who has seen them agrees. Singer Tunde Adebimpe’s vocals are somehow powerful and sensitive at the same time. The band is intense and forceful, they had no problem pleasing Indianapolis. My favorite moment of the night was when they played “Wolf like Me.” Sounds cheesy, but I felt like the band and the crowd came together… Especially when Tunde walked over to the crowd and the crowd reached out to the band. I have never seen The Vogue so packed and so lively… ever.

ps: MPM contributor Mayowa is not in TVOTR nor Bloc Party.

I believe it was the famous poet Nelly who said “Get me two purrr, I need two purrr.” MPM is mainly a music blog, but you know what, fuck it, I’m going to talk about shooooz. Sneakers and music, particularly hip-hop and electro, go together like peanut butter and mayonnaise, errrr, jelly?

RIPE!!!
It’s no secret that I’m a bit of a sneaker freak(er). I like to treat myself to a new pair of kicks every couple of months, because there’s not much better than steppin out in a fresh set of stomps. Are they necessary to own? Of course not. Is it a wise investment to buy a pair in today’s crumbling economy? Oh, sweet CreamyJesus, no!!!
But it never hurts to look! A couple of my favorite sites to Windows shop (Get it? It’s a computer joke!) are over at eukicks, sneakerobsession, and pickyourshoes. Whatever your preference, there’s something to suit your tastes, and if you don’t like shoes, CUT YOUR HAIR, HIPPY!!!

I think one of the most beautiful marriages is the one between folk music and electronica. A common image that comes to my mind with this union is early Postal Service but recently it’s been replaced by James Yuill. The style of his cd Turning Down Water for Air ranges from a thumping bass and very electronic middle riff in No Pins Allowed to a love song entitled Head Over Heels that infuse bells, a flat chord progression and echo-y ethereal lyrics. I couldn’t stop listening to this cd for weeks so I’ll give you a taste of what I’m talking about.

This week’s mixtape is an adaptation of Teenage Diary, a gripping audio drama about an ordinary teenage girl, played by Vonda Van Dyke, Miss America 1965, searching for love and happiness. The plot blends romance, violence, sex and substance abuse wonderfully, and manages to thrown in a few moral teachings for wayward 1960s youths.
Teenage Diary is a wonderful story, with a great cast, and using the magic of audio editing software, I abridged the narrative to a succinct 20 minutes and updated the music to include Adem, Cody Chesnutt, Bird and the Bee and other hot kids.
I had fun with this audio drama cum mixtape and I recommend that you save it for a rainy day. If you want to track down the original Teenage Diary audio file, head over to the 365 Days Project, where WFMU (hands down the best independent radio station on the East Coast) dj’s posted some of the weirdest records, cassettes etc. that survived into the internet age, over 365 days. I especially recommend Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “Total Body Workout” and “Picking Up Girls Made Easy”, two recordings every bachelor worth his salt should have in his mp3 collection.

From conception, my girlfriend and I have created a horror trailer for this contest, hosted by US News & World Report and STA travel, that determines which university truly rocks.
At first you might be upset that this post doesn’t contain music. But wait, I did incorporate the skills I’ve learned from using Ableton.
Movie making integrates stills and audio to create the end product. Duh, right? With the help of Sony Vegas, we edited tons of footage from Purdue, and cut it down into a 2 and a half minute trailer. We then moved on to the audio part which was my specialty. After recording our dramatic script and successfully agreeing on the right inflections we merged the two parts to create our video.
So without further adeiu, here’s our video that we created
Why Purdue rocks

My Pleasure, Miss! contributors (sans Mayowa, miss u xoxo) hopped on a car and drove up to Chicago Tuesday evening to get our fix of some BNGRZ. At first we were all worried if we would get there in time with the rain and the confusion from all the construction… but we made it to the windy city safely. We chugged our PBRs real quick for a quick buzz and entered the Double Door.
Opening acts: Black Holes, Congorock, and Felix Cartal gradually raised the temperature in the Double Door by getting the crowd to start dancing, preparing for the big act. By the time MSTRKRFT came on, the dance floor was packed. MSTRKRFT had a great light show with a green laser light and TV screens placed behind them and on their DJ booth. While chugging down Crown Royal, MSTRKRFT delivered originals (VUVUVU, Work on You) and remixes (Wow [Kylie Minogue], D.A.N.C.E. [Justice]) and caused a dance dance revolution at the Double Door. We were all sweaty and gross, condensation on my camera lens, but that didn’t matter at all. We were having a good fucking amazing time and that was all that mattered.

Pretty self explanatory. My attempts at fucking around actually mashing and mixing some fave songs of mine. The first one is a bit of a clash with Feisty and Daft but take a gander : dj mHo – I think of you while touching myself at night.
The second one came to while listening to Ministry of Sound’s electo disc set circa 2k7 and immediately I loved the the sound of san francisco edit thus I present to you dj mHo – The Sound of D.A.N.C.E.
MSTRKRFT!!!! Finally goin’ to see them since I missed my chance @ SXSW due to scheduling conflicts with teh Fools Gold. No worries, I’m sure they’ll tear down the house in chicago.
Lastly, keep an eye out for my mixtape. It’ll be melting yr faces perty soon.

It’s a bit late, I suppose, but if you’re going to be in the Chicago area tomorrow, you should definitely check out MSTRKRFT with Felix Cartal and Congorock on the Fist of God tour. It’s at the Double Door (21+), and the show starts at 8, so get there early and have your best banger fist ready! Hopefully pics/review to come later!
